LAKESIDE KOLSCH

Lake of the Woods has long been known asone of North America’s premier outdoor destinations; summer, winter, spring and fall. By water-wing or by tiller, by sled or by canoe, being Lakeside celebrates all that life at the lake offers. Brewed using old-world techniques producing a crisp, clean ale with the characteristics of a lager and nose of malt & fruit. Lakeside is a technical yet subtle - some say near delicate - beer. FIREHOUSE ENGLISH NUT BROWN ALE

It would only make sense for us to dedicate the name of this beer to our brewery and tap room location, a century old firehall in downtown Kenora. Chocolate malt provides the colour and aroma of this amber coloured ale. Classic English hop profiles balance this malt forward pub-ish Brown Ale - simple ale but true to style with a roasted nut finish. Good form Peter! Good form. IBU: 28, SRM: 18

FORGOTTEN LAKE BLUEBERRY ALE

BREWED WITH ACTUAL BLUEBERRIES. Hidden in the Lake of the Woods region on a small back lake there exists patches of berries usually reserved for black bears and moose (a moose once bit my sister...). This beer is subtle with a clear fruity nose. Muted blueberry, low bitterness and medium body. Although high in ABV, its finish is smooth and well-balanced. IBU: 15, SRM: 16

SULTANA GOLD BLONDE ALE

Named after the legendary Sultana Gold Mine on Lake of the Woods. The mine, which was located on Sultana Island, prospered for over a decade and eventually flooded in 1902. NAUTICAL DISASTER DOUBLE IPA

For nearly 100 years trouble & tragedy claimed many a steamship, sailor & Captain on Lake of the Woods. The still waters & open stretches were often fraught with unseen mishap & calamity for both passenger n' cargo alike. Nautical Disaster Double IPA - chock-a-block of ‘Triple C’ hops & full to the gunwales with notes o’ grapefruit; the answer between the Devil Itself & the deep blue sea (or lake). LAGO MEXICAN STYLE LAGER

In Spanish, Lago means Lake and Cerveza means, well, Cerveza. Lago - a Mexican style lager - is refreshing and light with that little extra cha-cha-cha you’d expect from a craft beer. Inspired by times spent perched at the beach pool bar under the hot sun with a bucket of cold ones, Lago is perfect for sharing with the senioritas and bro-chachos over a plate of tacos. With a hopped-up nose that smells like victory, its bitter hoppy flavour is balanced with a distinct toasty, dark malt character. OKTOBERFEST MÄRZEN LAGER

Big tents, schnitzel, blue and white checkered flags and a whole lotta oom pah pah are added to the mash tun when we brew this German Festival beer. Lake of the Woods Brewing Company's Oktoberfest Lager is a traditional deep gold - light orange color and is slightly hopped to highlight the warm and toasty malt profile. TIPPY CANOE WILD RICE ALE

This exceptional Lake of the Woods beer is step-mashed with regional malts to which local wild rice is added into the brew (harvested just down the road on Shoal Lake). Tippy’s unique mash bill gives the beer a distinctive flavour profile; full bodied with copper & nut with mild hop & all Northern Ontario. Wild rice, also known as Manoomin, translates to ‘the good berry’ in Ojibwe, has played a major role in the lives of the Ojibwe people in our region for centuries. IBU: 25, SRM: 12

BIG TIMBER AMERICAN IPA

Dedicated to the larger than life men and women that helped forge the North American landscape. For all the lumberjacks, loggers, fellers and buckers... this beer’s for you. An unexpected bend to an American India Pale Ale, this non-traditional IPA has a depth of body and colour with a clear-cut floral/citrus hop aroma and a supporting malt profile. Keep on loggin’ on. Devil's Elbow Helles Italiano is our April Charity Pint! In support of the Kenora Nordic & Biathlon Club (KNBC) Light the Trails Campaign! We will donate 25¢ for every pint of Devil's Elbow poured this month. When the world was young the Devil (aka Mephisto, Louis, Mr Nick,… Daryl) went down to Lake of the Woods to escape ’the details’ and an endless night - but really to just hang and get on some lake time. Born was Devil’s Elbow - an underworldly mash up of an ancient Munich Helles exorcised with the body of an angelic Italian Pilsner. Sessionable omen meets prophetical needful things - conjuring a crafty lager mash up that’s possibly the best that’s ever been. 1907 SCOTTISH CREAM ALE

In March of 1906, the Montreal Wanderers (now the Montreal Canadiens) won the Stanley Cup from Ottawa and retained it until they met with the Kenora Thistles hockey team in January of 1907. The Thistles traveled to Montreal and cleanly beat the Wanderers in a best of three tournament, winning the first game by a score of 4–2, and the second 8–6. KENORA IS THE SMALLEST TOWN TO HAVE EVER WON THE STANLEY CUP! 1907 Scottish Cream Ale is a mild beer made using traditional ingredients. Hops are minimal and Heather flowers have been used instead for bittering and aroma along with honey for a delicate sweetness. Pale Ale malt is used as a base in addition to wheat, rye, oats and caramel malt. The caramel malt contributes colour and toffee flavours, the rye adds a distinct spice and the oats are used for body and head retention. IBU: 23, SRM: 5

The Thistles 1907 Stanley Cup win; the 1973 CIBC bank robbery; the momentous 2013 reopening of Lake of the Woods Brewing Co.: all three landmark (& strangely unrelated) events, that have helped put our little town of Kenora ‘on the map’ (insert wink here). Dead Man’s Switch - a hazy NEIPA hop bomb loaded with enough Citra & Amarillo to stuff a getaway car twice over - this brew immortalizes the surreal & film-esque Kenora Main St. bank robbery; the only such event in history that actually shut down the Trans-Canada Hwy. for a day. PAPERMAKER CZECH STYLE PILSNER

The Kenora pulp & paper mill opened in 1922 and produced its last roll of paper on Machine #10 in 2005. For generations grandfathers, fathers, sons & daughters worked side by side on Lake of the Woods, producing some of the finest quality newsprint in the world. In their honor, Papermaker is brewed with a rich, complex caramel maltiness combined with a pronounced yet well rounded bitterness. A classic spiciness is present, but does not linger.
